The Hufflepuff girl was nervous. Like in the extreme. Mackenzie was always the shy girl, but her plans with her friend Abby were getting to her. She had always thought Abby was cute, but she didn't thinks girls like Abby went out with girls like her. Then again, this wasn't a date. All they were doing was some homework in the library. Maybe what had Mac nervous was the thought of her friend bringing alcohol. Mac wasn't exactly known for her ability too hold her liquor. And that was because there was no ability there to speak of. She could barely get through the contents of on butterbeer without starting to slur her words. And she knew that if they were having even just a little drink they wouldn't be getting much work done. Hell, they might not get a whole lot done anyway. Mac knew how distracted they got when they studied. That might have been more of the Hufflepuff's fault though, since she wasn't really academically inclined. She wasn't stupid by any means but sh wouldn't be winning any scholarly awards either.
Mackenzie checked her reflection in the mirror for what might as well have been Tue hundredth time. Her hair was in light waves, almost curls but not quite. She had changed into some muggle clothing, preferring the comfort of low-rise jeans and a fitted black T-shirt to the Hogwarts uniform that the students had to wear to classes. The girl tried out a smile and decided that her current appearance was about as good as she was going to get. At least for tonight. She grabbed Abby's book and left her own in her trunk, deciding that it would just be ridiculous to have two books open at the same page at the same time. She put her wand in her pocket and hurried out the door.
The walk (well more like jog) didn't take very long. She thought the library was pretty much in the middle of their respective dorms, but Mac noted that it was her who had to go upstairs. Not that she was complaining; it had been her idea to meet in the library. And besides, it meant that when they were done Mac could walk downstairs and Abby would have to walk up. Unless they went to dinner together. Mac wondered if Abby would mind her joining the table. She knew that students were supposed to sit with their own houses, but Mac had sat at the Gryffindor table before. She just didn't want to embarrass her friend.
When she got to the library she looked around. Mackenzie didn't see her friend so she found an empty table and opened the Herbology book.

Abby was, by nature a very relaxed person; she never really stressed over exams, going on dates, or even the bigger things like figuring out what she wanted to be when she was older. Of course, once the Gryffindor figured out just what she wanted she would do just about anything to get that thing. In this particular case, the thing she had started out looking for was her Herbology textbook… but once that had been found and its location deemed secured, she’d discovered an entirely new goal! And that goal was to spend as much time as humanely possible in one evening with one Mackenzie Reid. When they’d first started owling, the blonde had hinted at the possibility of a bottle of firewhiskey showing up for their study session, which Mackenzie had protested against, saying that she didn’t hold her alcohol very well. That had, of course only further spurred the Gryffindor into trying to find a bottle… which she was unfortunately unsuccessful in doing. But she had managed to find some butterbeers, which would do just as nicely. She headed up to her dormitory about thirty minutes before they were supposed to meet, giving herself adequate time to prepare herself for their little study session. After a quick leaf through her trunk, Abby opted for a pair of light wash, spotted denims that had a few rips around the knees, a plain white tank top that hugged her curves nicely, and a red leather jacket. As for her shoes, she picked out a black pair of wedge sneakers. She’d kept her makeup light, and her hair was down and in its naturally curly state. A small spin in front of the mirror, and she was ready to go. Grabbing her wand and the pints of butterbeer she skipped out of her room, a smile lighting up her face. It took her only a few minutes to reach the library, but she paused outside the doors to straighten her clothes and ensure that her hair and makeup still looked the way they did when she’d left her dorm. Mackenzie was one of her best friends, and she couldn’t help but be attracted to the Hufflepuff; she was sweet, and Abby found the whole shy thing that Mac had going on to be completely endearing. Smiling, the blonde shoved open one of the library’s doors, quickly spotting the brunette in question and skipping over to the table. ”Hey Macbug!” She beamed, plopping down beside her. ”I brought butterbeer!” The Gryffindor sang, shaking the bottles at her friend while still keeping care to remain at least partially quiet. There was no point smuggling butterbeer into the library if she was just going to go and shout to the librarian that she had it! CODED BY ELECTRIC OF SHINE

words: 462 outfit: click !tagged: mac/amber <3 notes: sorry for the wait ! As the blonde made her way down to the library, she attempted to remember exactly what they were supposed to be working on. She knew that Mackenzie had her Herbology textbook, but was that what they were going to be studying? It could have been Transfiguration instead, or maybe Defense Against the Dark Arts… either way, Abby had zero plans to actually study. Merlin, she was one of the students that did all their assignments the night before they were due, and only studied for important exams! No, the only reason she’d accept the Hufflepuff’s invitation was because she wished to spend time with the brunette girl. It wasn’t often that the two of them got to hang out alone, as their other friends always seemed to hang around. She loved them like sisters, but they were seriously interfering with her plans! However, she didn’t expect them to show up for this particular study date, which gave her the perfect opportunity to get to know Mac on a more personal level. Abby wasn’t one to go out of her way to chase someone, and she didn’t often get caught up in the details of whoever she was pursuing, but things were different with Mac. She didn’t want to screw it up, as their friendship was one of her most cherished accomplishments. They complimented each other well, and the dark haired girl always seemed to know exactly what to say whenever Abby was upset or just needed someone to vent to. It worked well, and if they did ever end up dating and then breaking up, she didn’t want to lose that. Merlin, if she had a pound for every times she’d asked herself whether or not it was worth risking the friendship, she’d be a very rich woman! However, she always came back to the way her stomach erupted in butterflies whenever Mac smiled at her, the way she craved the brunette’s attention, and the satisfaction she got whenever she was able to make her laugh. Those things alone made it all worthwhile. Pausing outside the library, she readjusted her clothes before skipping into the book-filled space, quickly making her way over to the table and plopping down in the seat opposite Mac’s. ”We said no to firewhiskey.” Abby pointed out, a sly grin settling across her features as she popped the top off of one of the bottle, handing it to her friend with a wink. ”It’ll make studying less boring, plus there isn’t anyone here, so you don’t have to worry about embarrassing yourself or whatever it is you dislike about it.” Abby didn’t quite understand Mac’s aversion to alcohol, (especially with something as weak as butterbeer), but she hoped it wouldn’t stop her from indulging in the delicious substance. A smile formed on Mac's face. She really couldn't be mad at Abby. Besides, the whole putting her in situations she wouldn't normally be in alone was one of the things she really liked about the blonde girl. Not that shy Mackenzie could tell Abby that. Even just thinking about it made the brown-haired girl blush. She was definitely not one to make the first move, at least while she was sober. She wasn't sure what she would do if Abby got her drunk. And Mac was sure it wouldn't take much either. She usually only had one or two butterbeers because even that low alcohol content was enough to affect her. She was sure the other girls in their group were much more used to the kind of thing that Mac was, and that probably was because Mac was muggle born and grew up without butterbeer for the first ten years of her life. Not that her parents would have had her around the drink even if she had been born in the wizarding world.
“I thought butterbeer was implied in that statement,” she said, but she was smiling anyway, unable to make her voice sound too disapproving. Mac didn't want Abby to think she was stuck up or anything. And maybe it would be okay. She could just have one and that would be it, though she really didn't think she'd be able to study with even that little.
Mac took the drink that was offered. “You're here. I might embarrass myself in front of you.” She was only half joking when she said it, but didn't think that Abby would notice that there was any seriousness to the statement. She didn't really think she was Abby's type. Of course what the hell did she know about Abby's type? “I just hope I can find my own dorm when we're done here.” She said, laughing a little before taking a drink of the beverage. Then she sat the drink on the table, hoping that no one would come in and see what they were doing, although she didn't think butterbeer was illegal, they just didn't keep it in the school. She pulled her hair back and then moved it to one shoulder so it was out of her face. “So, I guess we should get to it, yeah?”

words: 359 outfit: click !tagged: mac/amber <3 notes: sorry for the wait ! As far as the Gryffindor could tell, she and Mac were the perfect combination. Abby helped bring out Mac’s wilder side, helping her let loose and do teenage things, while Mac kept the blonde in check whenever the need arose and helped keep her focused on the tasks at hand. In her mind, it was the best setup imaginable, although she wasn’t entirely sure whether or not the other girl felt the same way. For all she knew, Mac could just think she was pushy or just being plain rude! However, Abby was almost one hundred percent certain that the Hufflepuff appreciated at least a quarter of her antics… if she didn’t, she wouldn’t have agreed to do half the things Abby asked of her! Knowing, (or at least guessing), that the brunette trusted her caused the blonde’s stomach to erupt in what could only be described as a herd of rampaging elephants, something that she was becoming quite used to thanks to the amount of time they were spending together. ”Butterbeer and firewhiskey are two extraordinarily different things, Macbug.” She trilled plopping down in one of the chairs as she spoke. It wasn’t really that she wanted to get the other girl smashed, (tipsy, maybe, but definitely not drunk). All she really wanted was to make her a bit more pliable! Mac always seemed to secretive whenever she brought up anything to do with dating or relationships, and the blonde had decided that the only way to get her to divulge any such information would be to get her a teensiest bit intoxicated. Grinning, she handed Mac a butterbeer before grabbing herself one, brushing off the Hufflepuff’s comment about embarrassing herself before utilizing the table as a bottle opener. ”S’Alright. You can always bunk with me if you can’t.” Abby watched the other girl closely once she finished talking, looking for any signs that the brunette was uncomfortable or even happy about her suggestion. Mac hadn’t really started drinking, but she was hoping to catch the other girl off guard and hopefully find out something she could put to use. ”I suppose… what is it we’re doing again?”CODED BY ELECTRIC OF SHINE
